With Turck's IO-Link RFID devices, RFID can be added to IO-Link applications in no time at all

RFID Read/Write Devices with IO-Link

IO-Link read/write devices with improved performance expand Turck's HF portfolio - including password protection and condition monitoring

Turck is presenting three new RFID read/write devices with IO-Link in M18 and M30 threaded barrel and Q40 rectangular designs. Existing IO-Link applications can be effortlessly expanded with RFID using the new devices. With their fast COM3 interface and 32-byte process data width, the HF readers significantly improve the performance of IO-Link RFID systems. The devices also provide the option of password-protected access to data carriers and RSSI signal strength recording for permanent quality control. The read/write devices can be operated in IO-Link mode or in standard I/O mode (SIO mode).

Your Benefits

  • Cost-effective as RFID via IO-Link is less expensive than classic RFID
  • High productivity compared to other IO-Link RFID systems with less process data width
  • Improved process reliability due to condition monitoring by means of RSSI value

Password protection function enables access security via RFID

In SIO mode, the devices provide the password protection function for access control. This function can be particularly useful for decentralized or autonomous applications because neither a master nor an RFID interface nor a controller would be required. This means, for example, that only authorized persons have access to storage and retrieval machines.

Integrated function monitoring through RSSI value control

The permanent measurement of the signal strength (RSSI) enables the monitoring of the functional reserve of an RFID application. If a defined threshold value is exceeded, the alarm output switches, making it possible to detect early the range loss of tags or other disturbance factors such as those caused by metals. This condition monitoring function can also be easily retrofitted in existing applications.

Simple IO-Link integration

Device parameters are set very easily with Turck's IO-Link masters since these already contain the stored IODD. All three read/write devices, TN-M18-IOL2, TN-M30-IOL2 and TN-Q40-IOL2 are described with the same IODD. In addition, configuration, parameterization and function testing are possible via their web interface without additional tools.
